Fade to Saturn Logo treatment

Fade to Black

Fade up on Exterior Shot of the one of the 5 San Diego County Saturn Dealerships. This shot should be focused more on the sales offices, than the service department at this time. It should also begin the visual treatment that will be carried out through the next several shots of this opening segment.

Shot mostly in close ups from this point (and possibly ending up in Slo-Mo ) we see the following:

Start CU on HERO WOMAN  -- do a walk around so that she is now in foreground looking at her new car in background. We see her from a 3/4 profile – hands clasped near her breast, with a radiant look of joy on her face.

CU- HERO WOMAN runs her hand down the front fender. (OPTIONAL)

CU - HERO WOMAN shakes hands with salesman – and then he hands her some literature, including the Owners Manual.

CU- Keys being dropped or placed into hands of HERO WOMAN

CU - Driver’s door opens, she slides in and closes the door.

CU - Back end of car with back plate that says: "I (heart symbol) My Car!". Car drives off and we see her hand out the window waving back at us. As car is retreating, insert graphic "heart" around the shot – reminiscent of "I Love Lucy", but more open with a hip graphic feel.

After a beat "heart" is replaced by a running odometer. We see two or three pass-by of the car. Consider a MCU of car passing – we see her still doing her queenly wave to the camera out the window. Then flip the shot in edit and have her going the other direction. Possibly one more running shot may be necessary to get the odometer to the fateful 3,000 mile mark …

When the action stops - she is frozen in mid-wave.

CU woman’s face  with a camera move from face to odometer (insert larger than life "3,000" miles in area where odometer is) – the move continues back out of the car to a MCU side shot of woman through window, gazing out into space … Shot continues as she turns to camera as if she is listening to the narrator.

Freeze shot and insert title:

Shoot a variety of shots of  HERO WOMAN interacting with SERVICE TECH…filling out paperwork, talking, maybe he is pointing out something on the car to her..

HERO WOMAN is handed a cup of coffee

HERO WOMAN takes a seat in the waiting area – we can see her car in the bay – she looks at the pricing brochure. (Intercut a CU of the brochure and some of the prices. Her finger could run down them possibly.)

[Music Sting]

[Music begins – it is fun, happy, slightly fifties feel to it -- to track the San Diego "theme music" used from the oldies station - KBEST-95]

[Music continues with appropriate sound effects as desired. Perhaps we hear a canned exaggerated "sigh" of "aaahh"]

[Perhaps a "whooshing" sound]

[Perhaps a more dramatic "plunking" sound when Owners Manual lands in her hand.]

[We hear the jingle the keys land]

[We hear a "swhoosh" sound and then door closing]

[Car accelerating. Music swells]

[Music continues in same vein – with the addition of a clicking sound -- fades under for Narration]

Somewhere down that blissful road you and your Saturn are traveling, your odometer is going to click over the 3 thousand mile mark and it’ll be time for your first oil change.

[Music stops like a record player has been manually stopped]

[Narration continues]
It’s a pretty big milestone. In fact, it’s the critical first step in maintaining a long and healthy relationship. You know you want a place that will get you in and out in a hurry and not cost you an arm and a leg. Well, that place is right here where you bought your Saturn.

[Music caps – Narration continues](We should be right around 1:00 at this point)

[HOST On-camera]
You may have heard of Saturn’s reputation for delivering quality service. That’s because our job just begins with the sale. If you’re happy – we’re happy. We also know how valuable your time and money are, so we have our

[HOST VO]
Quick Lube service that’s competitive with any quick lube service out there – in speed, price and convenience.

One of the reasons you may have bought your Saturn is that it’s simple to maintain. But like any good relationship, you need to pay attention to the little things before they become big things.

[HOST on-camera]
With your Saturn, that means oil changes and minor maintenance every so often – that’s, every 3 thousand miles or about every 3 months as a general rule. The mid-size LS schedule is a bit different.

[HOST VO]
You’ve heard us say Saturn is a different kind of car – a different kind of company. Well, it’s the same with service.

We have a goal to be competitive in Price and Speed – and a promise to be best in Quality. Our Quick Lube Service can handle all minor maintenance in 20 to 30 minutes.

It’s going to cost about the same – or even less than at one of those "quickie" places. And we use the same kind of up-front pricing in our Service Centers as we do in Sales.

[HOST on-camera]
Any relationship is going to be better if it starts out on the right foot, so show your car you love it by bringing it in to where you bought it when it needs its first oil change. No appointment is necessary. And you’re not going to have to drop your car off for the day – or get here at the crack of dawn just to get in line.

[HOST VO]
When you come in for that first service – not only do we change the oil and filter …

We’ll top off all the fluids…

Check the air pressure in your tires and measure the tread – and look for anything that might cause a problem down the road.

We’ll check out the exhaust system.

And inspect the joints and seals around the axles and suspension.

All of this for about the same or even less than anyplace around – plus we enter everything we do and see into our exclusive nationwide computer system
