Pioneering Advances in Healthcare through DNA Probes.

:10 or so...Opening shot that makes a statement about Gen-Probe and serves as a backdrop for an opening title. Possibly the new building shot from such an angle that it will hold up over time. Insert Title:

Gen-Probe - From Discovery Research to Clinical Solutions

[MUSIC CONTINUES]
Fade title and Bring in live action images of people using the Gen-Probe products - possibly from the Amplified CT video (the background footage used in the blue screen interviews had some very usable shots) -- or some new footage shot in the Gen-Probe labs showing people. [FADE MUSIC UNDER FOR NARRATION]
The future of nucleic acid probe technology is to provide physicians and patients with cost-effective, rapid and accurate diagnosis. One company is setting the pace in DNA probe diagnostics -- Gen-Probe.
Start sequence of copy stand shots of press release headers, news clippings, photos, etc. by bringing in over some generic stock footage - possibly the periscope shots from 1988. Use Extreme Close Ups, zooms, pans, etc. to add life to these static images. The company was founded in 1983 -- with an idea that moved DNA testing from the research laboratory into the clinical diagnostic environment -- targeting the more abundant ribosomal RNA instead of DNA.
Look for new product announcements, early patents, FDA clearance announcements, packaging for the Mycoplasma culture test.1985 By 1985, Gen-Probe was a real company with real products. We were the first company to receive FDA clearance on DNA based probe technology.
Photos of labs and people. Or older live action footage. Or a press clipping that says something about the technology. It was accomplishments such as these that propelled nucleic acid assays from research to clinical solutions -- making Gen-Probe the recognized leader in DNA probe technology.
Press clippings that say something about Gen-Probe going public, as well as the product announcement for PACE.1987 By 1987, our balanced approach to business -- including Research & Development, Manufacturing, and Sales and Marketing -- resulted in a strong public offering.
FDA Clearance on the Chlamydia test, Chugai funding some R&D and ML Technology Ventures funding some R&D - 1988 In 1988, we received FDA clearance for the world’s first non-radioactive direct specimen DNA probe diagnostic test for Chlamydia. Interest in Gen-Probe technology was high -- with over 15 million dollars in a research collaboration with one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Japan - Chugai Pharmaceutical.
News clippings about the acquisition.1989

(Select a headline that makes it obvious that Chugai bought Gen-Probe.)

In 1989, this partnership became permanent, as Chugai recognized the potential of Gen-Probe’s technology and its people. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Chugai, Gen-Probe continues to build on that promise.
Transition away from the historical segment into full-screen footage -- new building? For over 10 years now, clinical labs have relied on the accurate and dependable DNA probe assays developed by Gen-Probe.
Growth charts - profits and people?

Profits:

Sales:

Employees: 27 in ‘84 to 451 in ‘96

As a young aggressive company with impressive growth - we have remained profitable every year since 1992 -- reaching over 80 million dollars in sales in 1996.

Real growth - from real products - created by an expanding Gen-Probe team that will soon exceed 500 employees.

Labs and warehousing and shipping shots. Our commitment to the long term is seen in continued investment in our people, our facilities -- and in research & development. We devote a significantly higher percentage of sales dollars to R&D than the average diagnostic company.
Scroll or other graphic treatment to show all of Gen-Probes current products. (Get list from current price list, plus the slicks for Amplified MTD and Amplified Chlamydia Trachomatis Assay - the 2 products not on the list.) Gen-Probe has more FDA-cleared DNA probe tests than anyone else in the industry, and we now market over 30 assays around the world ... products that offer patients rapid diagnosis in areas of sexually transmitted diseases, respiratory and infectious diseases.

With 43 issued US Patents and 80 Patents pending, Gen-Probe continues to pioneer medical frontiers.

Start animation sequences as indicated in narration for In-Solution targeting of rRNA,TMA and HPA Three patented core technologies constitute Gen-Probe’s unique method of detecting and identifying organisms.
Animations continue. The capability of our initial core technology -- targeting of rRNA insolution -- is now increased by TMA - Transcription Mediated Amplification. In this process target sequences are replicated more than one billion-fold in as little as two hours.

Clinical laboratories now have a simple, fast and sensitive system that can detect a single microorganism in a clinical sample.

HPA animation. Sensitivity is further enhanced by the Hybridization Protection Assay -- or HPA. Free probes are distinguished from those that have hybridized, using a chemiluminescent signal. The result is a concise signal that eliminates subjectivity. As with all Gen-Probe assays - reactions are carried out insolution in a single test tube.
